The Oscar Romero Award was established in response to the turbulent and violent times of the 1980s in South and Central America, especially El Salvador and Guatemala, when unthinkable acts of terror, torture, and deaths dominated the news. These horrific acts continue—have even increased—as today more than 150 governments are engaged in torture.

March for Human Rights for Immigrants on May 1, 2008, in Houston

A march in favor of human rights for immigrants is planned for May 1, 2008 in Houston. It will begin at 2 p.m. in front of the Mickey Leland Federal Building at 1919 Smith, and end at Antioch Park at 1400 Smith.

Come to the regular monthly meeting of the Progressive Action Alliance Thursday, May 8. Come early (about 6:45PM) to visit; meeting is from 7-9 p.m. Bring something non-messy to eat or drink and share if you wish. You are invited to participate in the memorial to the casualty of the World War 2, in the Heights in Houston.
It will be at 7 p.m. on 9 of May.
The memorial will be on the Heights Boulevard esplanade in Houston,
