Withdraw from Iraq Now..

WHEREAS members of the U.S. military in Iraq have killed many thousands of Iraq civilians; and

WHEREAS favoritism in U.S. policies has strained relations between factions in Iraqi society; and

WHEREAS a state of civil war already exists in Iraq --= a state which the U.S. has not only failed to prevent, but has actually inflamed; and

WHEREAS reconstruction that the U. S. promised to perform has not been carried out in any meaningful way; and

WHEREAS the revelations about torture conducted in the Abu-Ghraib prison have destroyed any value that Americans might have had as role models or trainers for Iraqi officials and police; and

WHEREAS the U.S.-written Iraqi constitution excludes the rights of one person-one vote, denies former Baathist leaders the right to run for political office, and denies the state the right to nationalize essential resources; be it therefore

RESOLVED that the United States immediately withdraw its troops and contract employees from Iraq, and be it further

RESOLVED that Congress should refuse to allocate any more funding for military operations in Iraq other than what is needed to implement immediate withdrawal.
