Teaching Peace in Texas Schools Conference

Event Description:

Texans for Peace presents it third annual "Teaching Peace in Texas Schools" conference. Workshops include "Teaching empathy through exercises in the math and science curricula," "Creating a culture of peace in the schools," "Encouraging student activism," "Working it out; empowering elementary school students to resolve their own conflicts," "Nonviolent communication in the schools," and "Peaceful vocations; a guide to counter-recruiting in our schools." Keynote speaker is noted author Jan Arnow, founder of the Louisville Kentucky-based Intercultural Institute and longtime proponent of nonviolent communication techniques in education.

The conference begins at 8:30 and should end at approximately 4:30. Lunch is included in the registration fee.
