Jan 21 2008 - 10:00am
Jan 21 2008 - 12:00pm

Event Description:

Join thousands of others in the Houston area, who value what MLK stood for, at the ORIGINAL Martin Luther King, Jr. parade, in downtown Houston.

This is the parade that was originated 30 years ago by Ovide Duncantelle, tht is coordinated by the Black Heritage Society, and which remains true to MLK's legacy.

(The other so-called MLK parade, organized by Charles Stamps, is the one that is filled with ROTC groups and other militaristic entries.  It is also on the same day, but don't be confused even though it has a bunch of corporate sponsors.)

Parade and parade participants will line-up and begin at Capital & Hamilton, next to Minute Maid Park.

KPFT will have a prominent part in the original MLK parade.  A number of other fine organizations (especially peace and justice related ones, will be there.
