IVAW and HIMC present 'Deserter'

Event Description:

On Friday November 14th Join the new Houston chapter of Iraq Veterans
Against the War (IVAW) and Houston Indymedia at 8pm at Rice Cinema for a
screening of the Big Noise Films Documentary 'Deserter'

'Deserter' is the journey a deserting soldier and his young wife as they
flee across the country to seek refugee status over the Canadian border.
As they move from safe house to safe house, we get to know Ryan and Jen -
two, shy, small-town kids from the Central Valley who joined the military
because there were no jobs, and find they must make a heroic stand in
order to escape an illegal and immoral war. 'Deserter' is a political road
movie with one of the few happy endings that this war has given us.

After the Film Members of IVAW will talk about their experiences and facilitate
a discussion.

Rice Cinema is located on the Rice University Campus at Entrance #8,
