Event Description:

The "SOAW Journey for Justice 2008 Caravan" will be stopping into Houston on their way to the November Vigil to close down the School of Americas (SOA/WHINSEC) in Ft. Benning, Georgia.
Come learn more about the SOA with a short film, followed by testimonials of Community Activists involved in the movement.

TIEL RAINELLI, Prisoner of Conscience & Community Organizer (Los Angeles, CA)
Tiel was one of 11 Prisoners of Conscience who crossed the line in Nov. 2007 onto the Ft. Benning Military Reservation, publicly defying the laws which prevent political speech on military bases and making a bold call for justice and accountability. She served 3 months in a federal prison.

FRANKIE FLORES, (El Salvador) Torture Survivor & Truth Speaker TASSC International (Torture Abolition and Survivor Support Coalition), Cofounder of Stop Impunity Project

Frankie worked with the churchwomen in El Salvador during the late 70’s. He was kidnapped and tortured by the National Guard. Frankie shares his powerful testimonial as a survivor of the massacre during the funeral of Archbishop Oscar Romero.

ADRIANA MONJARRAS, Zapatista Leader & Chicana Activist (Los Angeles, CA)

Adriana shares about the struggle and situation of the Zapatista movement in Mexico.
