Dear Friends and Fruit Tree Enthusiasts,

Urban Harvest is holding its 9th annual Fruit Tree Sale on Jan. 17. If you have attended a fruit tree sale before, you already know that these fruit trees have been selected by Houston area fruit tree experts for their outstanding productivity and adaptability to our climate. This is a one day opportunity that should not be missed, if you are thinking of planting fruit trees.

There will be an abundance of outstanding fruit trees including citrus of all kinds, apples, pears, persimmons, peaches, plums, apricots, figs, pomegranates, grapes, muscadines, blueberries, blackberries, jujubes, pecans, avocados, star fruit, Cherry of the Rio Grande, Barbados Cherry, Sugar Apple, Longan, Dragon Fruit, Grumichama, olives, mulberries and Guava.

The sale has a new location at Rice University Football Stadium Concourse, out of the rain and bad weather. There are 2,000 parking spaces right at the sale entrance.

Bring a wagon to the sale, if you can.

Location:

Rice University Football Stadium Concourse on Greenbriar between Rice and University Blvds. The parking lot may be entered on Greenbriar, Rice or University. (See attached map).

There will be a "Prepare for the Fruit Tree Sale" class offered on two days in preparation for the sale. The class will include pictures and qualities of all fruits that will be offered, and detailed information on planting and care for each type tree, and lots of time for questions. A segment of the class will cover high density home orchards where you will learn how to plant fruit trees in clusters. A booklet will be provided, with all the information, to take home for review and later use in care of the trees. This class will be really important in helping you select trees that are right for you and insure you have success growing them. Classes are January 10, noon to 2 p.m. or January 13, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Urban Harvest auditorium, 2311 Canal at Navigation.

Check http://www.urbanharvest.org for directions to classes, the sale, and lots of information on the fruit tree sale and the trees that will be available.

Hope to see you there....
