• Review of May 1 Palestinian screening. 75 attended; $546 grossed; net $312; split net between Mandell Group and PAA; discussion about how to use PAA’s take: $156 to Children of Gaza; Code Pink to take to Gaza; one of the Houston Palestinian group; or to use to help get the word out on Gilad event; consensus to donate money for publicity as needed
• Gene Green press conference fiasco Monday, May 11. Bill sent letter to Gene and received response stating staff hadn’t been apprised of press conference, blah, blah, blah. Bill posted story about incident at ( Press conference rescheduled noon, Friday, May 15, Hartman Park, 9311 East Ave. P. Discussion about running someone more responsive to public’s interests against Green in next election.
• KPFT Fund drive thru May 24. PAA group helping answering phones 9:30ish to noon Monday, May 18 at station, Ted & Lee volunteered to help Friday, May 22. Discussion about upcoming openings on LSB and entreating progressives to run. Tracie expressed interest
• Win-Win Healthcare for All meeting: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Leisure Learning, 2990 Richmond, 6th floor, to develop strategy for securing city council and mayoral candidates endorsement of single payer universal health care. Rally May 30th in Austin for single, payer universal health care. Resources:; and Russell Mokhiber’s Tracie, Colleen, CLT, Bill C, Art B, Don C. pledged to write letter to the editor this week advocating universal single payer healthcare.
