Sierra Club Community Cleanup in Fifth Ward

Oct 29 2005 - 8:00am
Oct 29 2005 - 12:00pm

Event Description:

The Sierra Club's "Building Environmental Communities" campaign invites you to join us in a neighborhood walk and cleanup around Bruce Elementary School and the Many Diversified Interest (MDI) Superfund site located in the heart of the historic Fifth Ward community. It’s a project to pull you in and make you an active participant, part of a society built on five core principles:

  • Our neighborhoods should be safe, healthy and poison-free.
  • Working together we can solve our problems.
  • Everyone has a part to play.
  • Bad actors should be held responsible.
  • Participation is power.

This community walk and cleanup will help us share with our neighbors ways that they can get involved and make their voice heard about the environmental issues facing our urban communities. As a Sierra Club-BEC volunteer, you will provide the much needed assistance in making our community a better place for the next generation to live, learn and play.
