Upcoming progressive events - Nov. 13, 2005
Details on all the events noted below are on the PAA online calendar,
on the Houston Indymedia calendar, and the HPJC calendar. You can
find all these calendars on our web site at http://paa-tx.org/ - just
look for the calendars on the right side of our home page and click
on the one of interest. Upcoming events are also listed below the
calendar links on our web site -- Just click on any event title to
bring up another page with details (time, place, etc.).
To add your own event to our calendar, see the "Submit an Event" link
below the event listings, at the bottom of the right column at
http://paa-tx.org/ .
If you are not already getting the calendar of events e-mailed every
two weeks from the Houston Peace and Justice Center, I encourage you
to sign up. They don't have all the events listed below (not ones
just scheduled, or regular meetings), but they have numerous others.

Sun. Nov. 13: Houston Social Forum Dinner and a Movie: Rumble in Mumbai
The movie is on last year's world social forum in Mumbai, India,
where over 100,000 people came together from all over the world to
push for social change.
Bring a dish to share at the potluck dinner, or just show up.
Tue. Nov. 15: Movie - The End of Suburbia
See this documentary about some of the effects of the problems to
expect as declining oil production clashes with increased worldwide
demand.
Nov. 18-20: Protest at the School of the Americas in Ft. Bennng, GA
See http://www.soaw.org for details.
Join thousands of others from across the US in honoring the victims,
working to close the school, and change oppressive US foreign policy.
Sat. Nov. 19: March and Rally Against the War in Iraq
This is the big event that was postponed due to Hurricane Rita.
Bring your protest signs, a table for your organization, and
literature to pass out. It should be a great place to network with
other activists.

Sun. Nov. 20: Movie - Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Prices
This is the new expose on Wal-Mart, from Robert Greenwald (previous
films include "Uncovered: The War on Iraq" and "Outfoxed". Wal-Mart
is already going into attack mode on this film, which shows how the
retail giant crushes both small businesses and the lives of its
employees.

Nov. 21-26: Thanksgiving in Crawford
Cindy Sheehan, other military veterans and family members, and
supporters, return to Camp Casey to continue the quest for the truth
about why we're in Iraq.
Different activities are planned for each day.
Fri. Dec. 2: Houston ACLU Gala featuring Al Franken
In addition to a speech by Mr. Franken, the evening will include a
standing reception, silent auction, sales of Mr. Franken's new book
The Truth (with Jokes), and a book signing.
