Sojourners "State of our Values" House Parties

Jan 31 2006 - 7:30pm
Jan 31 2006 - 9:30pm

Event Description:

Sojourners is encouraging people throughout the US to organize or attend speech-watching parties and discussions:

Organizing or attending a State of our Values watch is an easy and fun way to build community, discuss President Bush's speech with fellow people of faith, and contribute our voices to the national dialogue about whether our values and priorities as a nation are being met. Imagine this: With your passion and energy, we will organize hundreds of State of our Values watches in churches and communities of faith across the country. Think of the media story: "People of faith react to the State of the Union: News at 11." It's time to raise our prophetic voices together!

Never done anything like this before? We've put together a comprehensive tool kit that will help you through this process step by step. Organizers will also be able to participate in conference calls with Sojourners and Call to Renewal staff, as well as fellow organizers, to compare notes and ideas. Putting together a successful State of Our Values watch will be a rewarding, empowering, and fun experience.

To host a speech-watching party in your home, church, or other location, or to find one that's already planned near you.

If you click on the "Organize a State of Our Values Watch" button, you can download a free "State of Our Values" toolkit for your party. You can use this even if you want to have a private, non-publicized party for people you know.
