[PAA-Webteam] advertise lists?
Bill et al:
I would also vote to turn advertising OFF as soon as possible.
The spambots are numerous and voracious.

Yes, but if there aren't any e-mail addresses on the listinfo pages
for the Mailman lists, then does it matter whether we let Mailman
advertise those lists? I didn't put any e-mail addresses on the
listinfo pages, although Mailman does put the list-post address on
them. Of course, Mailman won't allow through mail from
non-subscribers if spammers try to send to the list addresses, but
the moderators would have to deal with that.
How about if we wait another day or two to turn off advertising the
lists, since I told everyone in my e-mail announcement to go to
http://paa-tx.org/mailman/listinfo to get info on all the lists and
to sign up. Do you think we can get the Forums summary page updated
by then (with the mil_recruiting list that replaces the
counter_recruiting one)? Then we can send out another e-mail telling
people to go to the forums page to sign up for the lists. I'm
reluctant to do that with the incorrect list address for the
mil_recruiting list there. (Of course, we'll have to make sure that
the e-mail addresses there are obscured from spambots, too -- the
list-post addresses for all our new lists are on that page, an they
are not hidden from spambots by the javascript y'all found-- just
look at the html source for that page.)
Sorry for all the trouble. I know there are so many details to
attend to regarding this stuff. But thanks for hanging in there!
