I like Charlie's idea of keeping the original and the short.

ditto - my only suggestion is to perhaps make sure that we also
register the .coms and possibly .nets of both of the domains below.

Our hosting service runs on a LINUX machine - *NIX machines are case
sensitive, for example, you can create files with names like

TEST.txt and
test.txt

and they are succinctly different files, hence the case matters.

Yes, Unix file names are case sensitive, but I didn't think that
capitalization made any difference for the domain-name portions of
URL's. As Brenda mentioned, I can get to our web site with various
capitalizations, such as what Brenda used. Works for me. Are there
cases where it won't?

Of course, if you try to download a particular file, the file name
portion of the URL must have the correct capitalization.

you're absolutely correct, there should be no issues with case in
using domain names.

I just checked the info on our Verio "Domain Manager" page at
http://199.239.254.34/stats , and it says these three .org domains
expire Nov. 18, 2005:
progressiveactionalliance.org
paa-tx.org
progressive-action-alliance.org

and these domains expire Jan. 14, 2006:
progressiveactionalliance.com
progressiveactionalliance.net

So it doesn't look as if any have been renewed.

$75 for how many domains? This might be a lot expensive than
necessary. Verio and several other domain registrars charge $10/yr
or less. However, the registrar I've used (register.com) for several
years for crosierbiomed.com charges a lot more than Verio, and I'm
thinking about switching registrars if I can do it without it
disrupting my e-mail. I would have done that last year except I
didn't want to risk losing e-mail during the transfer.
