All - for the record, I moved ALL members of our old lists over to
our new lists, with the exception of announce and discuss as I'm
waiting on Bill to make a formal announcement about the change (Bill,
this was the volumous text I provided to you sometime last week).

That being said, Heather, Charles and Cheryl were never on our
original webteam mailing list - if you'd like to be added, great!
please subscribe yourselves if you wish to receive email from
If you would prefer not to get that email, then
don't subscribe.

If you wish, you can subscribe here or I'll be happy to help you do it.

I had proposed that Tami and I would moderate the
list, but I never heard back from her. I would like to
be a list admistrator as well (i.e. receive
information about when people subscribe and
unsubscribe).

heather

P.S. did we decide yesterday at the HSF meeting which
list we are using for which purpose? i can't recall.

Try subscribing and unsubscribing to all of
the lists.  I don't have the new subscriber welcome nor the
sorry-you're-leaving messages customized yet for some of them, but I have
them for the announce, discuss, counter-recruiting, HSF, & impeach
lists.  These are the ones I'd like to get going/switched over as soon
as we think they are OK, so let me know what you think
ASAP.
Have spent a couple of hours playing with the system. I can see why it
must have taken a lot of time and effort to construct. It is amazingly detailed.
I am not at all computer literate and will need a lot of experience with it
before being able to use it properly (if ever) but am willing to give it a
try. I subscribed to the impeach list, then unsubscribed. It worked
fine and the welcoming and leaving messages looked good. Then resubscribed, also
to the Announcement and Discussion lists. The archiving thing is pretty neat. It
looks like there is a lot more but I can't absorb too much at one time and will
have to explore the rest later.

Heather and Charles M, would you like to be
moderators of the HSF and Impeach lists, respectively? You won't need to do
much, but when a non-list-member tries to post a message to the list, or if
a member tries to post a message with a big attachment, the list server will
intercept it, send you an e-mail, and hold the message until you decide what
to do (let it through, reject it with a note sent to the originator saying
why, etc.)  We can help you with this -- it's pretty easy, but we need
to know who wants to do this.  It's a good idea to have at least two
moderators for each list (Sarah said she can do this at least for a while),
so that messages aren't stuck in limbo for a long time if the primary
moderator is busy, sick, away from his/her computer for a few days,
etc.
As mentioned I am not a computer person and will probably need a lot of
help and have to ask a lot of questions. Maybe after we get going I
will find someone on the list who is really good at this and willing to do it,
but am willing to give it a try.

In addition, Heather and Charles, would you
like us to add you to the list of admins for your list who get e-mail
notifications whenever someone subscribes or unsubscribes to the list?
If you don't care about this, then we can leave you off so you don't get
notifications you may not care about.

Yes, please put me on the list.

I for one, really appreciate all your efforts Charlie et al!

Baby steps all - you'll get there. I realize that the home page may
be pretty overwhelming! Makes you realize just how much it is that
PAA is doing / involved in, no!??? Anyway, let me state for the
record that....

1. the most important thing for members of each group to help with is
to maintain the events for your action group / committee so that
people who are interested know how / when / where to participate in
your actions / meetings. This is a great place to get started with
respect to using the site and the provided tools.

Volunteers to post events please???

2. After that, we hope that each action group will consider posting
information relevant to their committee work. That assumes that you
all are generating information that will be useful to post on the
website for others to see. An example may be to include relevant
links to websites dealing with impeachment. That's just one example.

Or.... if you produce any documents, like.. the counter recruitment
group is putting together wonderful information about how to approach
the schools from a legal perspective as well as an organizational
perspective. If we could standardize the materials produced and
produce some "talking points" or "framing our message" points, we'd
have an easier time getting it into the schools and talking to the
powers that be. It would also keep us from inventing the wheel every
time as people could re-use the materials that we have worked so hard
to produce.

again - baby steps! we'll make you into an EXPERT blogger / website
administrator in NO time!

you guys are doing great, just take it slow and don't be afraid to
ask questions. If we can get people motivated and comfortable using
these tools NOW, we'll be SO well prepared for the 2006 elections.
I'm really looking forward to continued development which we plan to
include tools like MoveOn.org has - example...

* online petition signing
* online donation collection (other than Paypal that takes a cut of
our profits)
* selling our wares - like... your Impeach Bush bumper sticker!

etc... we'll get there... it's time for progressives to start using
the tools that Republicans have used for years. Part of our problem
is, IMHO (in my humble opinion) is that we lack the organization and
the centralized tools they've been so crafty at developing. This is a
critical piece of our development - again... my humble opinion of
course!

People can change their careers learning these tools! it can
sincerely have a genuine impact on your life.

thx!
