Election
plural caucus surely cauci?
(say it...)
Be that as it may, we'll meet at Alfred's house,
see address below. If you didn't vote (twice) last week,
come get counted twice for the Green Party tonight!
Green Party of Texas
This is your chance to help select nominees at all levels for the Dem. or Rep. party -- local judges, State Representatives and Senators, Congress, and more. The mainstream media often forgets that the primaries are about much more than the Presidential nominee. Please check out all the candidates who you will be able to vote on and help make sure there are some good choices on the ballot in November.
For Houston City Council, Jolanda Jones is running for At-large Position 5 against Joe Trevino, Wanda Adams faces Lawrence Allen for District D, and for District E Annette Dwyer and Mike Sullivan contend. Google their web sites and check out their backgrounds and positions on the issues.
We The People, We Trust
In races for three, term-limited Houston City Council seats, no candidate got a majority of the votes in the general elections that concluded November 6. Since we do not use Instant Runoff Voting, this means that a bunch of extra money must be spent on a special runoff election. Early voting runs from Nov 28 through Dec 4. The main date to know is Saturday, DECEMBER 8, when most people will vote. NOW is the time (if you haven't already) to contact your favorite candidate who's in the runoff and volunteer to help that person. Your efforts can really make a difference in an election where the voter turnout is likely to be extremely low!
On the ballot, statewide in Texas, are 16 state constitutional amendments.
In addition, Houston and some other cities are having city council and school board elections.
A number of school districts and other entities (including the Port of Houston) are having bond elections, as well.
